From Cathy Cheatham who is on our Board of Directors for RJHF and is the:
Executive Assistant Manager - South Shore Harbour Resort

"Ray lived the life of a Hero by laying down his own precious life for all his Brothers and Sisters.  I feel that I’m “giving back” to Ray by helping raise money for this great cause.  Ray lived his life to help others and through the scholarships that RJH Foundation is able to offer, his bright light will continue to shine for many others to see.  My life has been greatly enriched by getting involved with the RJH Foundation."

About the Scholarship

Deborah Hutchinson, John Connell, Brian Bloomfield, Michael Hutchinson.

Congratulations to our 2011 RJHF Scholarship winners!

  • Rachael Arend from Clear Brook High School, who will attend Texas A&M
  • Brian Boettger from Clear Springs High School, who will attend Houston Community College and University of Houston
  • Meagan Benavides from Clear Creek High School, who will attend Texas State University

This foundation in our son's name is unique, not only in the reason it has been created, but also in the work that it will accomplish as it sends young men and women to universities across this great country, when they receive a scholarship from the Ray Joseph Hutchinson Foundation.  We have awarded more than $90,000 in scholarships thus far, ranging from $750 to $3000 each.

The Ray Joseph Hutchinson Foundation is in the business of making this world a better place, now and for the future.  Each student who has received this auspicious award has been carefully selected by members of a selection committee at Clear Creek Education Foundation.  A member of the board from the Ray Joseph Hutchinson Foundation is permitted to attend the selection meetings.

Here are the criteria for eligibility:

  • Each student selected from any of the schools in the Clear Creek Independent School District can be an "A", "B", or "C" student.  This is not an academic scholarship.
  • Each applicant writes in about himself/herself, filling in an application form that is provided by the schools in the district.  We try to reach the students who have a need, and require financial assistance to attend the universities of their choice.
  • Each applicant understands that Ray Joseph did good things with his life to help make this world a better place. So their request for his scholarship includes a summary from them of their personal goals.

We have the assistance of the teachers and councilors who also sign each application as a representative or sponsor for the student.  A teacher or councilor can also provide more information about each applicant which is helpful in making the final selections.

The goal of the Ray Joseph Hutchinson Foundation, Inc., is simple.  Its purpose is to help young men and women make a difference in the lives of others.  This is what Ray Joseph Hutchinson did with the twenty years he was here on this earth.  It is only fitting that the good work of his life continues on as his legacy.  Therefore we have formed a working foundation in his honor.  It is our prayer that with the help of family, friends, and the generous members of our community, the Ray Joseph Hutchinson Foundation will continue to grow and reach this new generation of students who want to make a difference.

The Ray Joseph Hutchinson Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) organization.
